Eva Mendes: “I’d Rather Be Sexy Than Beautiful”

Eva Mendes told March 2012 issue of Zest magazine.

On why she’d rather be sexy than beautiful:
“I prefer the term sexy to beautiful. Because anyone can be sexy. What makes someone really sexy – and you can feel it when they talk to you or even just when they walk into a room – is the sense that they know they have something to contribute. They might be funny, smart or really kind, but they know it and when someone has that strong sense of self-worth, it’s really sexy.”

On ending a nine-year relationship in her late 30s:
“We’re still so young! Whatever age you’re at, do you want to look back in 10 years’ time and say, ‘Oh I was so young and dumb,’ and see the opportunities that passed you by? Flash-forwarding to the future really works for me – even if it’s just my tomorrow self telling my today self to get off the couch and do some exercise.”

On dealing with body-confidence issues:
“I went through my teenage years unhappy with what I was born with and complained about everything. But my older sisters and my amazing mum helped me realise I had to change my attitude towards myself. You have to learn to accept the things you can’t change and be brave enough to change the things you can. That was like an epiphany for me – I suddenly realised I had a lot of power over myself.”

On being comfortable in her own skin:
“I have this rule that when I look in the mirror, I won’t say something about myself I’d never say to a friend. Never point out your flaws to anyone, ever, including yourself. Accepting compliments is really important, too– even if you don’t agree with them. I’ve never understood why so many women struggle to accept compliments.”

Eva Mendes share her red carpet beauty tip!

Eva Mendes revealed that she sticks to a fish and fruit based meal plan when she is preparing for a big event.

“I do DrPerricone’s three-day anti-inflammatory diet based on red berries and salmon. It’s amazing the difference you see in your skin and your body,” she told Health & Beauty magazine.

“I do enjoy make-up; I especially love to highlight my cheeks with a little shimmer” she added

Eva Mendes: Marriage is not for me

Eva Mendes reveal again with dailytelegraph.com.au

“I just think…” she breaks off, choosing her words carefully. “If we go back to the origin of marriage, it was very unromantic. It was about land, basically. It was about ownership. So I think it’s a kind of unromantic idea. When I look around and see the emphasis people put on getting married and weddings, I think, wait a second, what does this really mean?

The divorce rate is astronomical. I’m a person who appreciates a private union and a union that doesn’t need a piece of paper. I think marriage is more societal than anything else, honestly. It’s not that I’m against it; it’s just that, for me, it seems a little old-fashioned.”

“But I’m completely pro-union,” she quickly adds. “I think the most beautiful thing in the world is to have your soulmate and to have that spiritual connection, and to honour that. In truth, you can’t be any more romantic than me. I’m crazy for romance. I like the random notes, the lipstick kisses on the mirror, the flower petals in the underwear drawer.”

Eva Mendes: “Sam Worthington Is Really Sexy”

Eva Mendes gave an interview for globalgrind.com and she said about her ‘Last Night’ co-star Sam Worthington

Sam has a really great kind of old school quality about him. He’s got this kind of rough exterior, this sexy rugged exterior, yet he’s so emotionally available and just really sexy. Did I say that already? (laughs) I find him extremely sexy and a lot of that has to do with his talent. I respond to his dedication to the craft. He’s a trained actor who really gets the material and just kind of embraces that process. He likes to rehearse, I love to rehearse. My kind of actor for sure.
